RESEARCH

 


Liaquat National Hospital & Medical College (LNMC) encourages research activities of students and faculty members and the subject is extensively taught to students of 3rd Year and culminates in protocol development. To further inculcate the importance of research LNMC has a research committee of students too.


The Library of Liaquat National Hospital & Medical College(LNMC) has online access to more than ten thousands journals along with several Medical & Nursing journals covering all specialties in hard copies too.

To ensure the conduct of scientifically sound research trainings are regularly conducted in house by qualified Epidemiologist and Biostatisticians for faculty and trainees too. Topics covered include Research Methodology and protocol development, Basic and Advance SPSS and manuscript writing.

All the research activities are supervised by research & ethical committees, which comprises of Chairperson and 8 – 10 members. The research committee has developed its own guidelines for submission of a research projects meeting the international Helsinki Guidelines.


The Research committee has substantial funds and encourages students and faculty to participate in national or international conferences and submit articles to international & national journals and provides financial support.

Once the research protocol along with the budget & timeline is approved it is then referred to ethical review board before final approval.


Student Research

 

Our students have nearly 50 publications in local and international journals of repute and are actively participating in over 30 research projects. Currently 25 articles have been submitted by the students for publication. Moreover our students participate and win poster competitions. Recently our student Javeria Mansoor won 1st prize at Jinnah Sindh Medical University’s Research Poster Competition. Her topic of Research was “Academic use of smart phone and correlation of its addiction with sleep disturbances among medical students”.
