Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery
INTRODUCTION
The Department offers a very high standard of diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. It is recognized as one of the premier centers for treatment of cardiothoracic diseases and ailments in the city. All types of adult and pediatric cardiothoracic procedures are performed here. The department has performed a large number of complicated and complex heart operations. On an average over 1000 procedures are performed annually..
SERVICES
The department is recognized for training by the College of Physician and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP).

One window service
The department of cardiothoracic surgery has introduced a one window service where patients are guided and assisted by coordinator who takes care of all logistics while the patients and their attendants are relaxing. The office is located on the 1st floor of Executive ward. Telephone number is 34412462.
Operation Theater
There is one dedicated and fully equipped operation theatre with state of the art monitoring facilities available exclusively for cardiothoracic surgery. Liaquat National Hospital can boast about the availability and use of the first INTRA AORTIC BALOON PUMP in the private sector.
Exclusive ward and ICU
Department has an exclusive cardiothoracic ward with independent and fully furnished A/C rooms. It also has six bedded Intensive care unit (ICU) integrated with state of the art equipments and technology.
Pre and Post operative care
Before and after operation patients are looked after by highly trained and caring team of doctors, nurses and physiotherapists.
Support Services
LNH provides complete laboratory, blood bank, Angiography, Echocardiography, Exercise tolerance testing (ETT), Thallium stress test, CT scanning, MRI, Carotid Doppler, Dialysis, ultrasound, diabetic care and physiotherapy services round the clock which not only saves the patient and their families from running around but at the same time speaks of the multi specialization structure of the hospital. 24 hours availability of all sub specialties in medicine such as cardiology, chest medicine, nephrology, infectious disease, neurology and vascular surgery makes this unit a very safe place for open heart surgery.
