Department of Orthopedic Surgery
INTRODUCTION
Department of Orthopedic Surgery came into existence in 1972. Since its establishment, it is providing good quality services to all kinds for patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
Orthopedic Department is recognized by College of Physicians and Surgeons(CPSP) for the post- graduate training program in orthopedics.
SERVICES
Orthopedic Department has well established infrastructure consisting of 40 bedded unit, OPD, operating room and attached rehabilitation center. In outpatient department we review about 25,000 patients annually. We have a fully equipped operation theatre with all modern facilities which is built according to the international standard. On average 1,500 major and minor surgeries are carried out annually. Our services include:
Trauma Management:
24 hours trauma management (all types of fractures, dislocations and soft tissue injuries)
Reconstructive Surgery:
Reconstructive surgery e.g. Accetabular and pelvic fractures etc.
Joint Replacement:
Joint replacement e.g. Total knee replacement, Total hip replacement, shoulder replacement.
Arthroscopy, Diagnostic and Therapeutic:
Tumor Surgery Congenital and acquired pediatric problems
e.g. club foot, polio, limb lengthening etc.
ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

Conducting pre examination workshops. |
Our department takes an active part in monthly orthopaedic meetings.
Department also conducts regular workshops on various aspects from time to time e.g. in the recent past, a workshop on joint replacement surgery has been conducted in which orthopedic surgeons from Malaysia and Hong Kong participated and included live demonstration of total knee replacement.
