About Liaquat National Hospital
LNH History | Tribute to Syed Wajid Ali Shah | The Governing Body | The Administration

Situated at the heart of Karachi, Liaquat National Hospital is the largest private sector tertiary care hospital of the city. Over the years, this Hospital which started out with 4 outpatient services and 50 beds, grew steadily, catering the healthcare needs of not only the people of Karachi, but also to patients coming from other fringes of the country. In 1978, the remarkable development and growth of Liaquat National Hospital saw the institution entering into the field of education. Today, it plays a pivotal role as a leading under-graduate & post-graduate medical center. The Hospital has a residency training program, representing a majority of the existing disciplines, recognized for fellowship by the CPSP, including certain disciplines which are also recognized by the different Royal Colleges in the U.K. LNH promulgated to the under-graduate medical education with the establishment of Liaquat National Medical College, the addition of which makes LNH a comprehensive under-graduate & post graduate medical & Para-medical training center. (Late) Mr. Wajid Ali Shah always emphasized the focal importance of nursing in a comprehensive healthcare institution. It was his driving force and the motivational support that LNH Nursing held its first seminar on Infection Control in 2002; titled: “Role of Nurses in the Control of Hospital Acquired Infections”.

New additions to the Hospital include the Syed Wajid Ali Shah complex, housing OPD block, modern & state of art Operation Theaters & dedicated ICUs; State-of-the-art radiology & nuclear medicine facilities; Pathology Laboratory facilities; Increase in the number of dialysis machines & ventilators and a 24 hour fully equipped & dedicated Emergency unit with X-Ray & COT facilities. The Hospital envisages a continuing increase in medical and surgical blocks. Furthermore, a purpose-built Day care center, High Dependency Units & an Out Patients’ Laboratory collection unit are among the many hall marks of LNH.

Through the years, LNH has maintained its identity and followed its mission of providing affordable and high quality healthcare to all classes of society. LNH is dedicated towards serving humanity irrespective of caste, creed, color or religion; with a desire to develop and maintain itself as an epitome of excellence in healthcare.
