A workshop on Invasive Monitoring is scheduled on 6th May 2010 between 2 – 4 pm at convention center Hall A , Liaquat National Hospital. This workshop will include detailed informative lectures on invasive arterial pressure monitoring, central venous catheterization and pulmonary artery catheterization followed by video presentation. These invasive techniques require skills and equipment but results in steady state which increases safety, improving outcome especially in high risk cases. These techniques allows continuous monitoring, direct arterial cannulation avoids discomfort and injury from repeated arterial punctures. Cannulation of central veins is used to gain access to central circulation for measurement of central venous pressure, for administration of hypertonic or irritating solutions and for passing catheters into the heart and pulmonary circulation.
