Liaquat National Hospital Karachi to admit and treat all persons without regards to race, color, sex, disability and nation or religious creed. Admission requirement and assignment of hospital facilities are the same for all persons.

Emergency Patients

Emergency cases are provided immediately attention by a qualified team of doctors and nursing, if required patients are admitted through the emergency department 24 hours a day, everyday of the year, including public holidays.

Non-Emergency Patients (Elective)

Non Emergency (Elective) patients are referred by the family physician through any L.N.H. consultant. To avoid delays, register with the admission office a day or two in advance and indicate your choice of room.

The patient may like to be admitted in the Private Wing, The Semi Private orThe General Wards, depending on his or her preference. The payment method depends whether the person admitted is a Corporate Patient or a Self Paying Patient.

Admission in L N H Top

Admissions Policy of Liaquat National Hospital Karachi to admit and treat all persons without regards to race, color, sex, disability and nation or religious creed. Admission requirement and assignment of hospital facilities are the same for all persons. However LNH do not submits its right to chose so All Right of Admission are Reserved with LNH Administration.

Admission Form

In order to maintain proper recording of data of all patients visiting LNH, a proper form is being introduced which is helpful and shall remain for all future references. Beside LNH it is in the greater interest of the patient that they should provide all required data correctly to avoid any difficulty in future. This data will become the part of our computerized HIMS system and patients can obtain their medical records whenever they need.

Admission Process
At LNH patient can get admission through OPD, E / R and referrals. A common procedure for admission is as under:
  1. Admission request form with details of procedure / length of stay / type of bed etc.
  2. Providing details of estimate to patient / attendant as per admission request form.
  3. Filling of consent form (Primary/Secondary) & Financial Undertaking with complete Address, Phone # (Both Land/Mobile) with copy of CNIC
  4. Receiving Cash at cashier desk & issuance of computerized receipt with full particulars as on admission file
  5. Finally Admission File with Admission request form filled by consultant, Primary /Secondary Consent Form and financial undertaking, Computerized patient admission record file
  6. Transfer Patient to ward

Admission through Emergency

  1. Consultant/Senior resident will fill the Admission request form. Filling all necessary Columns to provide clarity for estimate of the said specialty / E/R Consultant.
  2. Patient/attendant shall clear all Emergency dues before admission in Ward / O.T / ICU.
  3. Providing details of estimate as per admission request form
  4. Filling of consent form (Primary/Secondary) & financial undertaking with complete Address, Phone # (Both Land/Mobile) with copy of CNIC,
  5. Receiving Cash at cashier desk & issuance of computerized receipt with Full particulars as on admission file
  6. In case of Life Threatening / LIMB Threatening Condition Emergency Consultant/ Senior Registrar must put in writing of the said specialty E/R Consultant.
  7. Other than Life Threatening / LIMB Threatening Condition no admission shall be made on less than 30% of estimate cost (for admissions through E/R).
  8. A total amount of estimate cost should be recovered from the patient / attendant or at least 70% of the estimate. (for admissions through OPD)
  9. The consultant his /her senior registrars on duty shell fill the admission request form & all the procedure shell be followed as in case of OPD Admission (Referral Admission / walk in Patients)
  10. In case of any ambiguity in definition of admission rules an explanation of Sr. Manager /Manager P.B.S.D is required. Sr. Manager / Manager can take any decision regarding admission keeping situation in view.
  11. In case of Bomb blast, natural disaster admission shall be made as per SOS directions of Admin Advisor / Director Medical & Allied Services / Director Surgical and Allied Services / Coordinator Disaster Management, Who so ever available.

Admission through OPD

The process is same as of E / R, except here the patient reports to OPD instead of E/R.

Financial Clearance Procedure Top
(for Patients undergoing Surgery or major Investigations)

No surgery / procedure shall be done without the clearance of Recovery Department (Except in extreme emergency / Life Threatening / LIMB Threatening etc…). Administration Assistant ensures the implementation of this aspect.

Discharge protocol Top
(for Patients and Clearance of Bills for Patients)

When patient is discharged the file comes to billing department to chalk out the complete bill, then it goes to audit department. After audit, the file goes to cash counter for the clearance (Payment) by the patient / attendant. If the bill is paid, the case finally close and file goes to HIMS department. If any dues are remaining, due to any reason the file shall sustain with recovery department till payment is being received.

Security Arrangements Top
(for staff & patients. How to get help?)

On campus security is provided 24/7 by a vigilant security staff consisting of experienced security personals. A fully equipped security control rooms monitors all the activities through CCTV and keep a check on the hospital. In case of any emergency, anyone can dial 2614 to connect to the security control room.

Food services Top

LNH has a number of canteens on various locations within the campus, providing good quality & hygienic food. KFC has also opened its outlet at LNH and is available to LNH staff at discounted rates.

Car Parking Top

Dedicated car parking is designated for LNH doctors that are situated at three (03) different locations within LNH and are guarded by LNH security. For this, newly appointed doctors are instructed to get their vehicle registered with the LNH administration (Manager Office services) & a sticker will be allotted to them, which will ensure access to the designated parking areas.
