It gives me immense pleasure and sense of satisfaction that by the grace of Allah, Liaquat National Medical College is inviting applications for its fourth batch.

The period till now has indeed been a period of hard work ,dedication, steadfastness, hope and achievements.The students,the faculty,the support staff and the technical staff all worked very well and did their best to work to schedule,and to complete the course work for curriculum designated as out lined by the PM & DC and Karachi University.For many, this was a new experience and meant a lot of extra work and time but they did so willingly.I am pleased to report that all theory classes and practical sessionas are being held as scheduled.

The scheduled examinations(Internal assessments as well as the end of term examinations and the professional examination)are being held on time and the respective parents are being informedabout the performance and attendance record of their children, which shows steady progress by most.

I am pleased to report that in the 1st profressional MBBS Part ‘A’ examination held by the Karachi University in December 2007,one of our students of the 1st batch Ms.Afsheen Khan topped the list of successful candidates .While the Karachi University overall pass percentage was 64%, the pas percentage of LNMC was 79.8%.In the 1st professional MBBS part ‘B’ examination help in December 2008, the pass percentage of our LNMC students was 90% while the Karachi University overall pass percentage as 81% .Seven of our students obtained Distinctions in all three subjects.This speakes itself for dedicated efforts of out faculty and execellent performance and hard work by our students.

In addition to the course work and curriculum, our students also take part with lot of enthusiasm in extra curricular activities such as Mehfil-e-Mushaira,Cricket and Football matches and Ladis Throw ball and volley ball matches.External lecturesby renowned experts,Workshops and Seminars were also help which were well attended and appreciated.

A Book Shop on the Medical College premises is available to supply approved standard Text Books,stationary items and photocopying facilities to the staff and students at concessional rates.

I am pleased to report that additional space for four lecture halls,tutorial rooms,a bigger girl’s common room, Pathology & Pharmacology labs and other facilities have been made available in the 2nd wing(newly renovated building)of LNMC.The hostel facility for the girls as weel as the boys have been increased and improved.Additional lab equipment,models and teaching aids have also been acquired and more are on order.Most important of all,additional highly qualified and experienced faculty has been appointed recently and more shall be joining us soon in the preclinical as well as clinical fields/subjects since the clinical teaching has started.

We are confident that under the leadership of the new Medicalk Director and guidance of the Governing Body. Liaquat National Medical College and its attached hospital i-e Liaquat National Hospital has a very bright future ahead and has the potential to develop into an institution second to none in Pakistan.
