What services do we offer in women imaging?
This is a special low-dose X-ray system which is used to detect and diagnose breast diseases. The biggest benefit of digital mammography is that it can detect early-stage tumors that cannot be felt during a physical exam.
A non-invasive imaging technique that distinguishes between fluid-filled cysts and solid masses in breast issues by using sound waves.
A minimally invasive procedure in which ultrasound waves are used to guide and direct a needle to a suspicious area. This biopsy is useful to collect a tissue sample for testing.
In this process, a thin wire is placed into the breast for mammography guidance. This helps the surgeon to mark the exact location of a lesion.
A targeted biopsy that uses ultrasound direction to sample lymph nodes under the arm to check for the spread of breast cancer.
This procedure involves the placement of a tiny metal marker (clip) inside a tumour. The goal is to track its location during or after chemotherapy.
The detailed imaging of the female reproductive system and the developing fetus. This is performed either through the abdomen (transabdominal) or through the birth canal (transvaginal).
A series of transvaginal ultrasounds used to track the growth of ovarian follicles. This examination is used to identify the most fertile window for conception during fertility treatments.
An advanced ultrasound technique measures the blood flow in the uterine and ovarian arteries, as well as the placenta, to look for fetal growth restriction and guide fertility treatments.
This is a detailed ultrasound conducted at 20 weeks of pregnancy. The purpose is to check the baby's physical development and rule out structural abnormalities before it's too late.
A pre-birth test that combines ultrasound and fetal heart rate monitoring to assess the baby's heart rate, breathing, movements, and amniotic fluid levels.
3D is an advanced imaging service that shows three-dimensional still images, and 4D ultrasound is a real-time moving video of the baby's face and features.
Sterile saline is inserted into the uterus to perform an ultrasound procedure. This allows for clearer visualization of the uterine lining and a better overview of any cavity.
A non-invasive scan that shows high-resolution images of the pelvic organs, such as the uterus, ovaries, and bladder. The MRI helps diagnose gynaecological conditions like fibroids, endometriosis, or complex cysts.
This is specialized MRI which is used to detect a high-risk condition where the placenta attaches too deeply to the uterine wall.
A highly sensitive imaging test that uses magnetic fields to create detailed cross-sectional pictures of breast tissue, often used for high-risk screening.
Education & Training
Liaquat National Hospital plays a major role in providing education on women imaging by integrating clinical care with teaching and research. We offer hands-on training for postgraduate residents and fellows, including CME sessions and case-based discussions on breast and pelvic imaging.
This educational focus also involves conducting collaborative workshops on ultrasound-guided biopsy techniques. Additionally, awareness programs are being held to educate patients on early breast cancer detection, with the fact that LNH offer 24-hour ultrasound in Karachi and other diagnostic facilities.
Frequently Asked Questions
For menstruating women, the ideal time to schedule a mammogram is about one week after their period, when breasts are least tender. However, if you’re not menstruating, you can schedule it anytime.
Yes. Sometimes, it is uncomfortable because the breast is compressed, often feels like pressure rather than pain, which usually lasts only a few seconds per image. To know about the mammography test price, please contact us on LNH WhatsApp chatbot 021-111-456-456.
We perform a breast biopsy typically in 4 steps:
1. Local anaesthesia to numb the area.
2. Imaging guidance (ultrasound, mammogram, or MRI).
3. A needle is inserted to remove a small tissue sample.
4. A bandage is applied; stitches usually aren’t needed.
Most of them take 15–30 minutes, and you can go home the same day. You will learn more about the procedure during pre-procedure counselling.
At LNH, we provide best ultrasound in Karachi. Yes, it is safe because it uses sound waves, not radiation. The procedure is considered as the preferred imaging method during pregnancy for decades.
It depends on the type of ultrasound:
- In a Transabdominal pelvic ultrasound, you usually need a full bladder, so you’ll be asked to drink water beforehand.
- For a Transvaginal ultrasound, no bladder preparation is needed, so an empty bladder is often preferred.
Most results take 3–7 business days, but some specialized tests can take longer. In any case, your healthcare provider usually reviews the findings with you.
If a traditional ultrasound is a photo, 4D is a live movie. The safe technology helps detect medical conditions that 2D/3D scans may miss. Apart from that, it creates emotional bonding by showing facial features, movements, yarns and smiles.
